The name Chapoutier has been present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor Chapoutier was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of estate wine grower to that of a viticulturist, wine producer and businessman. The pioneering spirit already wellplanted in the family continues to exist several generations later. Biodynamic cultivation method leads winery to ensure that soils are living and as expressive as possible.
In May 2012, M. Chapoutier was recognized as the World's Most Admired French Wine Brand by Drinks International . In November 2012, Wine Spectator was saying: Michel Chapoutier has put his Rhône winery at the pinnacle of quality.
