Event intro


Established in 1896, Te MATA ESTATE is one of the New Zealand's oldest wineries. The family owned estate is specializing in grape growing and winemaking from its 120ha Hawke's bay vineyards all estate grown and hand harvest. Hawke's Bay as the second largest wine region in New Zealand has great warm dry maritime climate, free draining soil types, gravel plains, hillside Slopes and river terraces which are ideally suitable for Cabernets, Syrah, Chardonnay etc... 


Te MATA makes 65% Bordeaux blend and Syrah and 35% Whites. One of the New Zealand first and finest Syrah Bullnose, barrel fermented Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc and the cost cutting Estate Vineyard single vineyard series.

Te Mata Estate Bullnose Syrah

Syrah 100%

A dark crimson colour, with complex aromas of boysenberry, raspberry, red plum, red roses and allspice. The palate is full and even with great balance and purity of varietal expression. Powdery tannins provide structure and a long, elegant finish. It will continue to evolve in bottle for eight years from harvest.





Te Mata Estate Vineyard Cabernet Merlot

Merlot 32%, Cabernet Sauvignon 28%, Cabernet Franc 24%, Petit Verdot 16%

A dark ruby colour with aromas of fresh blackberry, plum, sage and vanilla. The palate is layered and soft, showing very ripe plum and berry notes intermixed with fine chocolatey tannins that sustain the long finish.

87% sauvignon blanc, 10% semillon and 3% sauvignon gris

A tropical dream of passionfruit, guava and lime. Enticing layers of toasted almonds and freshly bakedbrioche. With beautifully integrated oak, the generous palate is lifted by hints of honeysuckle, nectarine and grapefruit. Refreshing, fruity, complex andelegant – this is signature Cape Crest – the best we’ve ever made. Stunning.

Sauvignon Blanc 100%

A pale straw colour with green lights. Lovely aromas of lemongrass and coriander lend an exotic note to lime, passionfruit and blackcurrant leaf characters. The palate is crisp andmouth-filling, with fresh acidity providing a fine structure to a long, dry, mineral finish.
